
March 2011 Challenge Preparations

The original beat challenge is back for 2011.
Another live challenge is back again for King of the Beats.
The Pre - challenge
The challenge preparations started with in Birmingham City Centre and the Notting Hill area of London when each contender has a spending limit
of £20 to find a collection of music then develop new beats from what they have brought.
A total of 5 contenders will competing for the live challenge for March 19th.
For the first time the majority of people taking part for the challenge will be not from London, the contenders are:
Edd Man Wilkes
Representing from midlands in Worcestershire he a currently a music student
Billy Whiz Z
A midlands based producer also from Worcestershire
Thomas Dunstan
A third midlands based contender representing Birmingham.
He is club promoter of the scratch club.
Malcolm 'cutmastermalc' Cook
The fourth contender from outside London he is representing from Hemel Hampstead
Mr B
The only contender in this live challenge representing the London Zone. Mr B is an emcee and a producer.
Each contender have only a limited amount of time to create new sounds from the records they have brought before presenting the finished track live on stage.
The event
The first King of the Beats live challenge of 2011 takes place on Saturday March 19th at London's Vibe Bar (91 Brick Lane, London E1 6QL)
located upstairs in the "Live" room. Free entry before 8pm with £4 after.
The night is hosted by Spakii Skii and Tha 4orce.
In the mix on the night will provided by Deejay Random from the Steel Devils, DJ Devastate. Plus special guest on the night Chase Rockwell.
More copies will be avilable on the night of the Limited edition 7 inch King of the Beats released records featuring some of the previous contenders over the past 3 years including: Jay King & Mack One, Tha 4orce and D'lux Beats. Purchase a raffle ticket and have a final chance to win a large scaled illustration artwork of J Dilla created by the Director of King of the Beats Pritt Kalsi.
In addition you also buy on the night the specially designed King of the Beats T - Shirts.
An extra dimension to this event, television cameras will be filming for a potential pilot television series featuring the King of the Beats events.
The nights main feature is The original beat challenge, all the contenders of this challenge will be be presenting their produced their sounds on stage to a live audience.
Who's Gonna Take the Create
Each contender must bring all the records purchased as part of the challenge, the ultimate winner have own the full collection of records brought by every contender.
Five contenders will be battle it out for the tittle of King of the Beats but there will be only one winner, this should be pure quality night not to be missed.
